Referral Program Terms
Effective Date: October 20, 2026
These terms govern the Refer a Teacher program in ReadingFluency.app. They sit alongside our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. By sharing a referral link, or by creating an account through one, you agree to them.
The program in short
A teacher with a ReadingFluency.app account can claim a personal referral link of the form readingfluency.app/r/your-handle. When a colleague creates a new account through that link, the colleague receives extra credits, and the referring teacher receives credits when that colleague subscribes to Teacher Plus. The Refer a Teacher tutorial walks through it step by step.
Rewards are credits, never cash
Every reward in this program is paid in ReadingFluency.app credits, the same credits that pay for recording and AI-assisted scoring in your workspace. Credits have no cash value. They cannot be withdrawn, transferred to another person, or exchanged for money, and they are not a discount or refund on any subscription. We chose credits deliberately: they are useful in the classroom, and they stay clear of the gift and compensation rules many schools and districts apply to their staff.
Who qualifies
- Referrers: any ReadingFluency.app teacher account in good standing can claim a referral handle and share its link. Each account has one handle, and once claimed it cannot be changed.
- Referred teachers: rewards apply only when the account created through the link is new and belongs to a different person from the referrer. Signing an existing account in through a referral link is not a referral.
- Self-referrals: accounts you create for yourself, accounts that share your email address, and accounts created to collect credits earn nothing, and we may remove credits they produced. Colleagues at the same school, including those who share your school's email domain, are welcome.
- Students: students join reading sessions with a class code and do not hold accounts. The program is for educators.
Reward schedule
| Event | Who receives | Credits |
|---|---|---|
| A new account is created through your link | The referred teacher | 50, on top of the 150 signup credits every workspace receives |
| The referred teacher's first payment for Teacher Plus monthly | You | 300 |
| The referred teacher's first payment for Teacher Plus annual | You | 500 |
| A monthly subscriber you referred moves to annual within 12 months of their first payment | You | 200 more, for 500 in total |
Referral credits are added to the bonus bucket of your personal workspace and do not expire. They are spent after any monthly subscription credits, at the same rates as every other credit, and they appear on the Subscription page in the app.
Limits
- One reward per referred teacher. The referral reward is paid once, on the first paid invoice. Cancelling and subscribing again, renewing, or changing plans does not pay it again, apart from the annual top-up above.
- 20 referred subscriptions per year. A referrer can earn rewards for at most 20 referred subscriptions in a calendar year. The welcome credits a referred teacher receives are not capped.
- Teacher Plus only. School and district licenses are agreed with us directly and do not generate referral rewards.
- Timing. Rewards are credited when the payment is confirmed, normally within minutes.
Refunds and reversals
If the payment that earned a reward is refunded, the reward is reversed and the credits it produced are removed from the referrer's balance. We may also withhold or reverse rewards where the program is being misused, for example through fake or duplicate accounts, accounts created by the referrer, misleading promotion, or automated sign-ups.
How a referral is recorded
Opening a referral link sets a small first-party cookie in that browser for 60 days and takes the visitor to the sign-in page with the referral code in the address. If several referral links were opened, the most recent one counts. The referral is recorded once, when the account is created, and is not changed afterwards. Because the cookie lives in the browser where the link was opened, a teacher who signs up on a different device should open the link again there first. Our Privacy Policy covers how we handle this data.
Sharing your link
Share it person to person: email, staff meetings, PLC notes, a message to your grade team. Please do not present yourself as ReadingFluency.app or as our employee, do not run paid advertising on your link, do not post it where referral links are not allowed, and do not send unsolicited bulk email. If you share your link publicly, say that it is a referral link that earns you credits.
Changes to the program
We may change the reward amounts, limits, or eligibility, or end the program, with notice on this page and in the app. Credits already added to your balance stay yours. Changes apply to referrals recorded after they take effect.
Partner program
A separate partner program pays cash commissions to selected partners who are not teachers at a school that buys from us, such as literacy consultants, professional-development providers, and content creators. It is by invitation only and is governed by its own agreement, not by these terms. Teachers in the referral program are not partners and never receive cash.
