Host a Live Group Reading Session

Learn how to create a live group reading session, monitor student status, add students during a session, and help students join and complete their reading.

Live group reading sessions help you collect student readings without calling every student one-by-one to the same device. The teacher hosts the session, students join with a code, and ReadingFluency.app keeps the results connected to the selected roster.

Create a group reading session

  1. Open a passage card.
  2. Choose Host Live Session.
  3. Select the students who should participate.
  4. Choose session settings:
    • AI auto-analysis
    • allow redo
    • reading mode and time limit
  5. Click Start Session.

Monitor a live session

The live session view shows the classroom code, active roster, and each student's status.

Click a student to focus their attempt and score manually if needed.

Add students during a session

  1. Click Add student to session.
  2. Select students who were not included at launch.
  3. Confirm the change.

Join as a student from the teacher dashboard

Active sessions appear on the Dashboard. Teachers can copy the class code, close the session, or join as a student for testing.

Student joining steps

Students can join from the app:

  1. Go to ReadingFluency.app.
  2. Click I am a Student.
  3. Enter the 6-digit classroom code from the teacher.
  4. Click Join Session.
  5. Select their name from the roster.

Student reading steps

  1. Click Start Reading.
  2. When the passage opens, click Read Passage or Read for 1m.
  3. Allow microphone access if prompted.
  4. Read aloud clearly.
  5. Click Stop & Finish.
  6. Submit the reading, or redo it if the teacher allowed redos.
